How Will you serve?

Dear Parishioners,

The virtue of humility, which Jesus seeks to foster within each of us, and stewardship are interconnected. Our Blessed Mother Mary is one of the best examples. In the Annunciation, Mary said to the Archangel Gabriel, “Let it be done unto me according to your word.” Her “Yes” reveals to us a model of humility to imitate. She freely surrenders her will to God’s will. Yet, at the same time she reveals to us what true stewardship is all about.

Stewardship is giving without counting the cost. When we reflect upon the life of Mary, her “Yes” was not just for that one moment to conceive Jesus within her womb. It was a “Yes” to a lifelong commitment to ministering and serving God. She gave all through her life, even as she stood at the foot of the Cross, without counting the cost.

Each year we are asked to be good stewards. And each year our parish has been blessed to have parishioners whom like Mary, have responded with their own “Yes” to the Lord. Many respond not only with their monetary treasures, but with their treasure of time and talent. I ask you to prayerfully consider the many ways in which you can give without counting the cost.
